oil leak in ignition cover was created by jonarmstrong
I have quite a bit of oil in my ignition cover. When I put the motor together after the po had taken it half way apart, the crank end looked rough. I Emory clothed it but it wasn't perfect when I put the seal in. What's the fix for this? Is there a seal saver sleeve for the end of the crank?

On my 1980 A4 MKII, the top screw to the round ignition box is taped into the case.

If thread sealer is not used, it can leak oil.

Don't know about a 82

Looked in ignition cover and found the oil leak is def at the crank. The seal is new but the crank had some pitting. I Emory clothed it when I put it back together last year but it has continually leaked. I'm guessing the only fix is to pull the crank. Has anyone heard of a crank sleeve for this problem?

You may want to contact these folks and get their opinion on filling the pits. Ed
