Hello all. I'm just getting started modifying my KZ550 and I want to go with pod air filters. I have the following questions:
_ What needs to be done about the vacuum lines that run to the breather box?

_ I see a lot of things about re-jetting. Where do I start?

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

There is alot of info on the subject here i too came here for help for my 550.You will have to rejet but everyone has their own favorite particular set up,depends on your exhaust, elevation ,riding style. most would start around 105 mains and 17 pilots, anyone feel free to correct me if needed. If you have tk22 carbs look up a member here loudhvx.Lots of useful info about those carbs in his signature.

KZR member loudhvx has a motorcycle stuff page linked in his signature. He may have the jetting info there that you need. Also, take note of some of the other info there, such as the TK-22 choke flaps stuff & clutch adjustment procedure.

Rather than starting yet another extended conversation on pods, related jetting, pros & cons, etc., etc., I highly recommend you use the search feature on this site and plug in the word "pods". You will discover that in the last 12 months there have been 835 postings on pods, and in the previous months were 6,723 postings on pods. I'm sure you will find useful information in those 7,558 postings on the subject of pods. It is by far the single most discussed subject on this site, so I suspect anything you wish to know about it has already been stated repeatedly. Ed

The vacuum lines go to the emission device above the valve covers. You can take that whole contraption off and cap everything.

For the TK22 on a C model, stock was 92 mains and 32 pilots. For pods, you will probably want to start somewhere around 94 or 96 mains and 34 pilots. If the exhaust is not stock, you may want to go as high as 98 or 102 on the mains, and maybe up to 37 on the pilots. But it could work just as well with 94 and 34, so still start there. Your needle setting and air screws will alter what jetting you want to run.

You will also have to get adjustable needles. You will probably want to start at the 3rd clip from the top.

Start small and work your way up. You will have to drill the pilots since they only come in 32.

The details about the jets and different needles are in the site linked to in my signature.

Thank you louhvx for the reply and all the info! Searching all the conversations about re-jetting for pods was dizzying to say the least. There are a lot of opinions out there.

I will be sticking with the stock exhaust for now. I like the way they look.

Here is a pick of what the bike looks like now. Getting to know the wiring diagram pretty well.
