1980 KZ1000 LTD-B4(MK II engine) - Progressive suspension, MTC pistons, Dynojet Stage III, all wear items replaced, WFO paint scheme(1978), etc..

- The triple tree areas are different. I discovered this while trying to install a Vetter fairing.
- The carbs are different, so the placement of the fuel petcock has to change.
- The tank mounts are totally different.
- The seat mounts are close, but may require some detailed engineering.
- The side cover mounts are a little different.
- The tail stock and fender mounts are a little different.
- The passenger pegs on the newer frames are on a 'bolt on' spacer. The old frame has fixed foot peg mounts.
- I might be mis-remembering this, but it seems to me that the swing are pivot width is a little different (240mm vs 230mm).
The frame has some additional gussets and the frame tubes on the top are a little bigger.

I bought and put a 76 reproduction seat on my 80 and it fit's like it's supposed to. You are talking 77 and 82, anything after 80 is different and his is an 80 model.

It wasn't a big issue and it all more or less fit, but it was enough that I realized I swapped the seats.
It was all in the details, which was entirely the point I was trying to make.

Pre 76 might use the plunger style seat latch, but 76 to 80 share the same latch style U-bolt.
