Exhaust valves - burned? KZ-750 was created by undiablo
Happy new year for all of you!
I was removing the stock 4-2 exhaust system to install the Vance&Hines 4-1 when it occurred to me to use the cellphone to take some pictures of the exhaust valves and ducts.
I did that because I was getting white smoke on start up on one exhaust, the one that merges cylinder 1 and 2. I was suspecting a valve seal oil leak....and it results I was right! The four of them leak oil, but the culprit is cylinder 2.

No problem, I already have 8 new Viton seals .
But what concerns me a lot more is the colour and deposits of the four exhaust valves, do you think they are burnt? Bike runs great although.
Can you please help me guys? Is it safe to use the bike this way? I repeat, it runs like a champ!

If exhaust smoke significantly diminishes after the engine warms up, would just continue riding until there's some other reason to remove the head.
If the V&H is a brand new exhaust system, or with brand new header pipes, would pre-condition the header pipes to prevent bluing or other discoloration.

If you do have to do seals be sure the guides are not worn out........ they wear front to back and no amount of new seals will fix a guide issue
P.S. exhaust guides wear faster due to the heat...... :S

The valves don't look unusual to me. The seals always fail, then seep oil down onto the valve and it oxidizes there and builds up a gunk layer. As said, if it runs good and has good compression, ride it. On my 750 twin, the oil buildup on the valve and seat would eventually keep the valve open enough to lower compression and then you have to fix it.

Ok, after 5 hours of trying to install the V&H headers.... I did it!!!! :woohoo:
I must say I am really dissapointed with build quality... I was getting mad trying to install the 3rd pipe... it did not want to get inside the hole.
That is when I took the headers out and put an aluminum ruler sitting over the 4 exhaust... pipe number 3 was way out of spec in two ways:
a) flange diameter was over 0,6mm bigger than the others
b) flange and pipe was 8mm below the other 3 pipes.
I hate paying 355 bucks only to get this piece of crap.
I had to file over the flange to get a perfect outside diameter of 35,6mm and use and hydraulic jack to push the pipe inside the engine  just to the point I could put the nuts for the collar. :pinch: :pinch: :pinch:
I should have stay with stock system or go with Kerker. V&H never more for me.
THANKS to Patton, bounty hunter an turbo king for your advice.

Yes... I know they would have changed it if I was living in USA.
Shipping from Argentina and then paying customs again is not an option.
