Kz550 engine clicking tear down tomorrow

Hey guys I got a kz550h for free from a neighbor who was gonna junk it. It was missing the carb set which I picked up from the salvage yard a couple days ago. I decided to put the engine in a buggy chassis iv had sitting around for years so today I got my my engine mounts made up and mocked up my wiring and decided to see if this thing will run. Well it stated right up but has a very loud clicking sound that I'm assuming is coming from the ohc area. I let it warm up and put resh oil in it to see if it would go away but had no luck. I searched around and found one similar case to mine on the forums by a guy from Scotland or somewhere in similar. I'm gonna link to a youtube video so you can hear what I'm talking about. Bottom line is I'm gonna check out the valvs tomorrow and document my findings. I know cam chain noise is a common issue on these engines and I hope it is that, but it sounds more like a bouncing valve so we'll see

Almost sounds like it could be an exhaust leak. Engine sounds strong otherwise.

Wow. I was also going to say exhaust leak. Seriously, I've seen MANY bikes with a "blown" motor that were repaired by a set of $8 gaskets! Dont tear it down, yet.
