Can someone tell me if the 14027-023 right side timing cover from say a 78 KZ1000 will fit on a 82 KZ1000 that normally uses the 14025B cover? I would like to use the 14027 with the "DOHC" logo on my bike as my timing cover is scratched.

TIA!

The short answer is no. The later generation KZ has a pulsing coil/governor-breaker that sticks out slightly further than the earlier generation KZ1000's. Note that the later generation pulse cover is slightly thicker/deeper to accommodate this. However, this later pulse cover will fit on an earlier generation KZ...which doesn't help you at all.

Okay, thanks! I understand what you're saying completely. I guess I will just try and find a better condition later version cover.

How much deeper is the later cover? Make a spacer maybe?
