Junking an engine

Hey folks,

I'll eventually be selling or junking the original beat up and seized motor for my Z1B. I will be keeping the top engine case (with the numbers accurate VIN and the 900 pork chop crank. Is there anything else worth keeping? The head has broken fins from a bad crash, other than that, I have no clue.

Anything usable. And the cases are machined as a unit.

I'd keep both case halves. I believe they are machined as a set.

Don't just keep the top engine case; keep the bottom engine case with it. They are machined together, so one without the other is not worth much. Ed

The block can be re-sleeved. I have pulled the sleeves out of a block before. In fact, I have an old propane grill that serves the purpose quite well.

What kind of shape is your cam cover in? Oil pan? I might be interested in that stuff if you want rid of it. I'm slowly accumulating parts for a super secret back burner project. Let me know before you decide to scrap it out. I'm sure I can do better than the going rate for aluminum scrap if you want rid of this stuff.

Good to know - I knew the cam caps and head were machined as one, I learned about the two cases machined as one.

Testa - you got it. It'll be a month or two before I dig into this thing, but I'll give you a shout well before I pitch anything.
