KZ 1000 Oil pump output test numbers.

Their has been a few forum members and guests wondering what a KZ 1000 oil pump out-put is.

I also wanted to know, so I did a test to see how long it would take to fill a empty quart oil container.

I disconnected my oil out-put line (3/8 inch hose) going to the oil cooler at the cooler and inserted it into a empty quart container.

With the bike warm, I started the bike and it was able to fill the quart container in 6 seconds or less with me counting ( one one thousand, two one thousand ) and so on.

I thought the forum would be interested in the findings. A lot more volume than I thought?

Yep, these are high volume, low pressure pumps. A warm Kz/ 1000/GPz/1100 engine with roller bearings, might have 2.2 to 2.8 PSI

I have a side gauge and it reads as high as 6 psi under high rpm....but runs around 3 psi

A long while back I made a test rig to test pumps on Z1 series.
I could always send oil up over a height of 10 to 12 feet, with a slow rotating drill connected to the drive shaft of the pump with a slight adjustable bleed-off valve.
I never had one fail. I never test them now!
I am highly suspicious of any pump that has been pulled down, albeit, just to replace a gasket.
I gave away testing them when I had a slight accident when the 3/8" tubing i had rigged up the side of the house became detached and filled my workshop with 20/40 oil. I never had one pump fail the lift test!
