Exhaust Suggestions/Advice was created by PaulyWally
Things are moving along on my bike. I have the carburetors just about rebuilt, and I'm looking ahead to the exhaust now.

The current system is a 2-1 and the muffler has got to go. It's not "muffling", and the bracket snapped off (weld joint failed). I asked about my exhaust on here a couple weeks ago and got some good info. I also did some looking around since then.

What I would LIKE to do, is keep my headers and get a slip on.

The problem is, my exhaust does not go down to 1 pipe before it goes into the muffler. The muffler takes both pipes. I figured that a Y-Pipe would be pretty common. But I can't find one online. As it turns out, I'm just having issues finding any kind of exhaust parts for my bike. eBay has a small handful of MAC full exhaust systems upwards of $250-$300. But I really didn't want to spend that much. And all the reviews I read on the MAC systems (particularly the Kawasaki 2 into 1's) are not good at all. I've also found DIY exhaust "kits" for other bikes. But not for the KZ750 twin.

So... am I just not looking in the right places? What do you think my options are?

Another question...

Someone mentioned welding the bracket back on in a previous post. At first, I didn't think much of it because the muffler isn't "muffling". But now I'm learning that I can buy baffles & baffle material. Is this a route worth looking into? Provided the baffle on my muffler is removable. And how can I check that?

Sorry for the ignorance. I really know nothing about exhaust.

There will be a bolt, screw or rivet to remove for a removable baffel.

Can you post a photo of your exhaust system?

Here's a muffler w the dual header pipe connections.

That's pretty much exactly what mine looks like. I also saw that eBay listing, and I might buy it. Just waiting to hear back from the seller on the I.D. of the inlet pipes.

I'm still weighing different options too because of the rarity of this type of 2-1.

I've had my KZ750B3 for 10 years now and when I got it the stock exhausts were in great shape. Being a stupid 16 year old I thought I had to cut them off and make it louder. After I realized the folly of my follies I bought a MAC system to try and make it like it was from the factory and ever since I just feel like the bike has never been the same. If I could go back I would have kept the 2-2 exhaust with the crossover pipe. For your problem I would suggest the EMGO silencers that you can get from Bell. They are $52 a piece but they have a throatier sound and look similar to stock but they are shorter. Just remember that re-jetting the bike to match the exhaust is pretty much out of the question since no one that I can find makes main jets for the early 750 twin carbs.
