Spark Plugs and oil was created by angryeric116
What are the best spark plugs for me to be using?
I have pod filters, a 4-1 exhaust and Wiesco 10.25:1 pistons (stock bore)

Also, what are some of the better engine oils to use in a Kz1000?

Rather than add to the list of "acceptable" oils and plugs, I have some advice:

Any of the compatible plugs from almost any manufacturer would be a good choice. There are going to be differences in performance from one manufacturer to another because your mike is different than other people's. Both the Denso and NGK plugs are a good starting point. Pick one, if you find it runs cold or foul quickly, switch them out for something else.

I'd avoid "vanity" plugs (Chromium, dual electrode, titanium, etc). The old computer joke is that the 'mauve' database is fastest, so we should get one of those.... Stick with the manufacturer's recommendations and you should be fine.

As far as oils go, as long as the oil you choose is JASO-MA rated, you should be fine. The weight of the oil within a manufacturer is going to be more important than the actual manufacturer. Also, "pure dino", semi-synthetic, and synthetic are all interesting choices. Pick one and go with it. If you don't like the way the one you chose performs - change it. Your ol choice is going to determine your clutch and transmission performance more than your engine performance, and the feel of that is where you'll be making your decision.

Asking a group this diverse and opinionated to pick the "best" oil or spark plug for your engine is just begging for trouble. If for no other reason because your engine, riding style, and application (including your riding altitude) are probably different than most other people's.

I run Rotella 10-30 and Denso plugs.

The FSM for my KZ750 specs both NGK and Nippon Denso (ND) plugs. As for oil: I have about 85k on mine and have always run 10-40 car oil, just make sure it does NOT say "energy conserving" on the label. MC specific oils are fine, just over priced. The key is change often.
