help!!!!!!
29 Sep 2013 11:08
Hello all fellow fanatics. New to the site. I have a bike which is sitting outside which was given to me as a runner, but has since died on me. I know it is rare. I have discovered that it could be an old grey import. All plate work is in Japanese, I think. I have spent hours searching the net for info and this is what I have come up with. It could be, a kz 250 c1 or 2. She is a single cylinder 4stroke. Believed to be built between 1979 and 1982 with only a few possibly still registered and running in th Uk. The markings on the block are kz250 but are hk250 on the side panels. I have seen a photo on line of an identical model and colour. I was given it by a gentleman from the Isle of Man who bought it as a cheep runabout, it has papers and log book but all relevant to year 2000, which I can only assume was the year the owner before him registered it. So it offically is still road legal and is insured, but I would like to try and find out more about the bike, as I may have to track down spares in the future. Can any one help???.

Welcome aboard! Take a look at the steering neck. You should be able to find the VIN number stamped there. That will be a good starting point for nailing down the year & model of your bike. Ed

Hello, 250gem, and WELCOME to KZr!

If not already done, could compare engine serial number with info provided by zedder.com.

For the brief search I did, it may be a small bike company, who bought the engine from Kawasaki, and built up much of the bike with other bought up parts. Kinda like the old AMC Motors, or the First Hyundai's. But most of the pages I saw need translating with Google. Then a lot is missed.
