Driveshaft collar KZ 750 LTD twin -83 was created by JanTaliban
Hi,

I recently changed the engine on my -83 twin. The new engine is an -82 and I put on all the parts needed from the old engine, clutch, engine covers and so on. There is a collar on the driveshaft right behind the sprocket and it's a little bigger on the -83, prohably beacause it's going to support the belt pulley. In the parts diagram it looks like you're supposed to get it of the shaft, but it's stuck there. On the -82 you just pull it off with your fingers. Right now I use the smaller one from the -82 and maybe that collar is enough to support the belt pulley aswell, but if its not, does anyone has any suggestions about how to remove it and put it on the -82 engine? I tried to heat it up a little with a blowtorch without no luck. Thank you in advance.

I can't see a difference in collars on the 82/83 750 twin that was marketed in the USA.
One of your engines is from a Belt Drive Model? I would think it still removes the same way. When you say bigger, do you mean the length of the spacer? That would change the offset, making the chain out of alignment.

Tnx for your reply, Motor Head. It's the outside diameter that's bigger. The old engine is a belt-engine, however, they sold them i Sweden with both chaindrive and beltdrive, but te engine is the same.. My bike had chain but I converted it to belt last summer. But with a little luck, I found a spare here in Sweden, the one on my engine just won't come of, don't know why.

If it is bigger in diameter, than the transmission cover and seal would have to correspond to that dimension. So they would have to fit together, so you don't have a miss fit/ oil leak.
Pulling the transmission cover, and comparing may help sort this out. It also may help in getting the collar off.
