gas smell from exhaust
17 Sep 2013 21:32
Hey everyone.
I've been noticing that when my kz550 is running there is a strong gas smell that comes from the exhaust. There's no fluid or smoke coming from the exhaust. My friend who owns a fuel injected bmw says its a fuel height issue but I'm unsure because i just reset my float heights to fix an overflow problem last month. There is no gas in the crankcase. Anyone know why this is happening?

Is it gas or burnt hydrocarbons ? Either way I wouldn't be smelling the exhaust. Very dangerous as carbon monoxide poisoning can take you unawares.
If the plugs are not black/rich then your fuel level is ok. If the bike is running well then as they say if it aint broken then dont fix it.
