Called the Sunoco race fuel guy and he has Maximal 116 for $65 for 5 gal.! Then called the local airport 2 miles away and they got 100 ll av gas for under $6 gal.

byars, you ever try running anything else? Do you think the avgas will be ok? Thanks

I have only used Sunoco 112. I was at the shop this morning so I ask my best friend, engine builder/machinist/tuner and 30 year veteran mechanic what his opinion was. He said several things. He has access to AV gas but has never tried it. He has had people tell him they use it for a fuel additive, but he has no knowledge of how it works. He ask a old timer once about using AV gas and the guy said are you going to be at 10k feet elevation? If not then no its not what you want. Then we looked at each other and he smiled and said if a guy thinks its worth the savings in gas to take a chance on wounding your motor then go ahead, But he thinks its not worth trying out. A open pipe at 8500 - 10500 rpm you are not going to hear the detonation. Its not cheap to build a nice motor so I would stick to the recommended fuel for that compression ratio, I would almost bet George Bryce would tell you the same thing.

Hear is one of the bikes from our circle. It uses Sunoco C16.

I live in a town with a small airport. They have jet fuel and another fuel rated around 100-102 octane. All you do is put your credit card in and you're good to go. I think they frown on anything but airplanes but there's not much going on around the early evening ;-}.

Our local fuel distributor is Corrigan Oil. They have Turbo Blue at a number of stations in Metro Detroit area so getting good fuel is pretty easy. Anyone can call the main office and they can tell you where to purchase Race Gas. Lots of Hot cars, Boats and Bikes in my area ;)

84 1170 motor 10.5:1 needs 112 additive, and I have the timing retarded just a bit. I think it wants a little more 112 than what I am giving it on a hot day.

Great pics and info.! Ok, av gas is out then.........what do you think about the Maximal 116? With the Blue Supreme 112, do you have to drain after racing? What carbs are your running on the blue bike and 81 gpz non turbo?

The 116 is for the big boys, I have never used it. I never drain the 112 from the race bike it won't gum up your carbs like pump gas will. I leave it in the bike and carbs all winter long. So I can start it if I need the sound of a nasty Z1 motor. I have a tank that only holds about 2 quarts. The race bike has 40mm LECTRONS. The Gpz street bike has RS36's.

The octane is 112..... ;)

You can really tell the diff in throttle response and the bike pepped up, but for the money.....I will stay with 93 at $3.22 per gallon as of today.

I bought Turbo Blue last week for my ZRX.
It was $7.00 per gallon, but you have to put it in a container.
No filling of race fuel in your tank is allowed at the pump.
