oil return from cam galley
14 Sep 2013 18:44
After removing the valve cover on my KZ900 noticed a large puddle of oil in the galley for the no. 1 exhaust valve. All other galleys no puddles. How does oil drain back into the crankcase? No explanation in the Kaw service manual.Like more info before removing the cam to make a visual inspection. Thanks.

That's because the bike sits on it's side stand and #1 exhaust valve sits lower than the intake so the oil tends to pool there when you stop and put the bike away on it's side stand.

Thanks for the info. One less concern, and a lot less work.

The oil drains back through the cam chain tunnel to get back to the crankcase
