Kz750 twin valve seals

Okay so When The new valve seals go on do they have to go all the way down to the bottom of the valve stem or just until it stop you. I thought maybe it was suppose to go further and ended up splitting a seal.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI never did it, I leave it to the head shop. I know they have to go on far enough that the keeper ring clamps onto the valve guide.
Is it possible it was an old (new) seal that was rotten? That's always a risk buying parts for 30 year old bikes...

Yeah it seals to the valve stem. Also Can anyone tell me how on earth you get both keepers back in. I can only seem to get one back in. Im using a lisle keeper installer.
