Adjusting APE manual tensioner
11 Sep 2013 13:50
I haven't seen the official directions from APE on how to adjust cam chain tensioner.
I hand tighten the bolt until the bolt sets and is tight. I then back the bolt off 1/4 turn.
Just wanted to see what the forum thought and seek advice if this is correct.
Thanks, Spencer

I seem to remember something about 1/8-1/4" play at the cam sprocket. I usually just adjust it and start it, then readjust and restart until it "feels" and "sounds" right. You can tell when it's too tight or loose and rattles and whines let you know about the sound.

Thats how i do it. just remember to rotate motor so all the slack is at the tesioner. I remember reading before where some people was having problem with running APEs directions. If i remember correctly it put the cam chain to tight.
