First thing is to try move this to the carb section so you can get better replies. The carbs and slides should not warp with heat, sounds like they are hooking up on something if they won't open all the way. You may have to take them apart and rebuild them again. Do you have a Factory Service Manual? I wouldn't even attempt to strip them down without one. Good luck :)

A lot of info is needed here. First guess is that the big jet is too small.

Do you have a header? Open pipes? What are the jet sizes?

Carbs that sit sometimes get stuck from varnish buildup. Don't use anything aggressive to clean them. 4 0000 steel wool would do. I always spray the slides with WD40 when I put them back together.
