Anything is doable but motor mounts and charging system are differant ;)
posting from deep under a non-descript barn in an undisclosed location southwest of Omaha.

really unless you want to jump rope for a hour on one foot while welding and learning how to fuck up stuff...find a cop bike motor from 81-2005 they will be the same and there are many many many of them...you could buy the 900 if it was cheap and have a great motor while the right bike pops up one day....or trade up/sell the 900 for extra and purchase a 81

it is a bit of work to put a 900 in an 81 imho
