When I pulled my 77 kz400 apart, the PO had just filled in the grooves around the breather cover and the cylinder cover with some kind of sealant. There was no rubber gasket going around them that I could identify, but I could have missed it considering it has been a while since I tore it all apart. Now I'm looking to reassemble and cant seem to find these rubber gaskets anywhere and it doesnt look like they are included in any top end gasket kits on eBay. Any ideas?

I was also wondering... My head gasket looks brand new, no cracks, rips, or any kind of damage whatsoever, no sealant stuck to it, nothing. Reuse, or buy a new one?

Thanks guys!

Edit: also, any input on what kind of sealant to buy from AutoZone or a similar store would be appreciated!

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationAssuming your breather o-ring is the part shown as #9 in diagram below, here's one on eBay with free shipping (see bottom image). Interesting enough, it appears the there was no actual gasket for the cylinder head cover. In the diagram below it appears that they specify using silicone sealant there (see #29). Also, on the bottom left side of page 52 of the KZ400 Kawasaki Service Manual (see
www.kz400.com/Workshop%20manual%20bilder...0man%20p%2035-58.pdf ) it calls for "liquid gasket" to be applied to the mating surface of the cylinder head cover rather that a regular gasket. Ed

Well, then! Thanks for the info, Ed. Much appreciated. I was looking through the repair manual PDF and it looked like there was a gasket for each part, but I guess I'll follow this diagram instead. Thank you so much for the eBay link as well, I guess I must not have been searching for the right thing. Thanks again!
