Don't worry, Jrbrownie00, how do you think we know? We have already walked the path, and learned from our mistakes.Jrbrownie00 wrote: As naive as it sounds I thought because of the exhaust, which was on it when I bought it, it would be a good idea to jet. Adding the pods was a guilty pleasure. I'm leaning toward the battery not being as new as the previous owner said. Any suggestions for a replacement if it does turn out to be he battery? I'd love to get a smaller gel battery if possible anyway.
If it turns out to be the battery, get an AGM battery; spillproof, delivered fully charged, last for years. It is the successor of the gel battery, which is now old technology. I run a MotoBatt, but there are lots of good brands out there.
Before you start spending money, though, you need to check everything out. If all the electrical connections check out, then you need to start testing your charging system and your ignition system. Always troubleshoot down to root cause before you go to the store and start handing out dollars.

The biggest thing to realize about their kits is that the mains are a "best guess". Luckily, they are cheap enough. I have a range of sizes so I can move up or down as required.les holt wrote: I done a dynojet kit to an 80's gs850 suzuki last year, cv carbs with just pods. The jets provided with the kit were way small to make it happy. I ended up going up 3 jet sizes to make it run well. It would run great up to about 5000-6000 and then sounded like it was on a rev limiter, pulled plugs and they looked sooty. Not saying it's your problem but worth a thought.

Could consider having the battery load-tested in order to determine its condition.
Most stores that sell motor vehicle batteries will perform a free load-test, such as AutoZone, Walmart, etc.
Should prepare the battery for the test -- remove it from the bike, add water as required, and charge it overnight at 1~2 amps, so that the battery will be in its best possible condition when load-tested.
If desired, the specific gravity of each cell may also be checked (diy with an inexpensive floating balls eye-dropper test kit).
Good Fortune!
