KZ 200 overbore was created by Spectre1982
I just acquired a barn find KZ 200. Compression is about 90. Runs terrible and smokes like a chimney. I took the top end apart and measured the barrel. The cylinder is worn past the service limit. Does anyone know where to find an oversize piston and rings? It's a 66mm standard bore. I think it may be the same as the 900 piston. Not sure on that.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Here's a new old stock (NOS) one that's .040" oversize for $30:

www.nwvintagecycleparts.com/search-resul...rch.x=10&search.y=15

The .040 over rings are still an "Active" part so any dealer can order them.

Partzilla lists the rings at $46.40.

Double check the part numbers, but I think I show the right ones. Ed

66mm is the standard bore for the 900 like you said and they have a 17mm wrist pin.
Also the 750/4 is the same bore but with a 15 mm wrist pin.
Only thing to measure is the pin height to see if one of them matches.
900s usually get taken out to 70mm,1015 CC right away.
750s big bore is 69 mm,810cc and the 440 is the same pin height at a stock 67.5mm.

Thanks for the responses. That 250 head looks identical to the one that came off but I'm not 100% certain if everything is the same. That is definitely a route to consider. Gonna review my options and order parts tonight. Should have it back in service by this time next week.

There are some threads on it, but I don't know if its a direct swap. In this thread it still looks like a question. So do some research into the stroke, see if they share the same crank and con rod. kawasaki.com will have that info, in the parts diagrams click on the yellow question mark once you locate the part #. It all under "Owner Info"

With all due respect, I asked for information on pistons and rings, not an opinion on whether it was worth the rebuild or not. Putting another KZ back on the road is worth the $150 in parts to me. A beginner friend of mine offered to buy it to get started with motorcycling. Fun is what it's all about.

Which direction did you go? Just curious. Wondering if you went up to the "Big Block" 250. :P
