Fuel valve/petcock

New to this forum and to motorcycle work. So I have some questions galore.

Will a kz550 fuel petcock valve flow too much or enough for a gpz550?

Thank you in advance!

The petcock on a bike cannot flow too much fuel. The fuel fills the carb bowls and the float valve shuts off the flow when the bowls are filled to the correct level. So too much flow is not a problem.

The KZ550 petcock will pass enough fuel for a GpZ550 engine with no problem. In fact, some KZ550 petcocks are used on GpZ550 models and KZ750 models. Ed

Thank you, just what I was looking for. Also where does everyone buy their parts from?

I know about Z1, but Im just curios about other place.

I need to find a starter clutch rebuild kit for the gpz550 but I can't.

Finding starter clutch parts is not a problem because they are still available from Kawasaki. Partzilla.com has excellent pricing. I would recommend you get both the one-way clutch assembly and the one-way clutch gear because the rollers of the assembly ride on the extension of the gear and cause it to wear unevenly (this contributes to the starter clutch slipping). Also, please add your bike's exact year & model to your signature line as that makes it much easier for folks to help you. Check the part number shown below before ordering to make sure they match you bike's year/model. Ed

I installed petcock from 400 bike on 1200 Bandit. It bolted perfect! It didn't pass enough gas.
500 to 500 should be OK.
Another time I used lawn mover petcock for Vulcan 1500, it worked fine!.
