Z1R Which Motor Will Fit? was created by Yorkie
I just picked up a cheap '78 Z1R Roller and was wondering what motor, other than the obvious Z1R motor, will fit. We have quite a few KZ1000Ps Police bikes knocking around this part of the world and I was thinking one of those would fit. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,

only 73-80 will bolt in, later j motors wont bolt in,...all 73-80 900-1000 are the same bolts as Z1R....

Yep just like he said, 73~80 Bolts right in!!!
If the motor has a kickstart shaft in it, it will bolt right in!!!!
No kickstart shaft, no fit without some remaking some motor mount brackets.
Funny this came up, I got some pictures of an early model motor mounted in a J model frame that
someone was racing in AMA Superbike back in 1981 or 1982. Caught my eye back then!!!
