78 kz750 four cylinder kickstart was created by krazykzcommandeered
I have a 78 kz650 that's kickstart only, was wanting a new block, or at very least hone the cylinders and some over sized rings, thought i read somewhere on here that a 80 750 used the same cam chain set up as the 78 650,allowing me to keep the kick start, and would fit without having to modify, I wanna keep the kickstart for sure, but wouldn't mind having an extra 100cc if it didnt cost an arm and a leg, if anyone could direct me to the link, that i just look 2 hours for, or any criticism / advice, would be greatly appreciated

Sorry, but it looks like the 1980 KZ750 (E1 & H1) uses the hyvo chain, so that's not a match for the '78 KZ650 crankshaft. Ed

I think you're a little confused, they don't use the same type cam chain. but the 80-82 KZ750E and H have all the provisions for the roller chain bits of the early (1980 and back) KZ650's.

If you do a search you should find some pics I posted showing the differences between the different 750 heads, and which ones to use.

You'll have to bore the case cylinder sleeve holes, but you can do that with a dremel or die grinder.

Simple path to increased power, especially if you go for the Wiseco 810 kit also. :P

What the heck, it's only money, right?

If you want to see what's possible with a KZ650, do a search for Dave Sloan (that's his member name here I think). He has a KZ650 that is now a fuel injected 810.

You can take it all the way to 880cc, but that takes custom pistons.

ok so think im gettig the idea,
now can i still use the 650 heads,
or i missing something?
will the 750 camshaft fit, then just use the 650 sprocket/tensioner ect...
or would i be better off just getting a complete 750 top end

another ?
is there any block that would fit my case that doesnt have the hole for the tach
i dont ride with gauges, not a huge deal but would look better without it
think they went to electronics in 83?

The hole for the tach is in the head, not the block, and any 750 head that doesn't have that hole for the tach probably won't work without modification.

Reborn650 has a KZ650 with 750/810 block, 650 head, and 750 cams, but he did extensive porting on the head. Unfortunately he hasn't been around since he bought a Ferrari :(

ok, thanks for the correction, so the 650 heads would work, but not without porting them,

now what kind of modification would one need to do to a 83 750 head without the tach drive in order for it to work,

or im just asking for disaster ?

Maybe just drill and tap the four holes for the cam chain idle mount. Reborn650 was going to do that to a 83 GPz750 head, but I don't think he got a rountuit.

He ported the head because he was running 29mm smoothbore carbs :P
