Kawasaki Z 750 -82. Timing chain adjustment was created by LMR
I recently bought a kawasaki z 750 -82 which I plan to restore. Unfortunately don't have any service manual for my bike, why I ask for help here.
How do I adjust the tension of the timing chain, and how much clearance should it be?
If anyone knows where I can find a service manual for this bike, please let me know!
Thanks!

I would be happy to try to help you find a manual, but first you need to identify which model bike you have. In 1982 Kawasaki made:
KZ750-E3 - This was a 4 cylinder model - similar to the 1979 - 1981 KZ750
KZ750-H3 (LTD) - a 4 cylinder cruiser model - similar to the 1980 - 1981 KZ750 LTD
KZ750-M1 (CSR) - a 2 cylinder model
KZ750-N1 (Spectre) - a 4 cylinder model
KZ750-R1 (GpZ) - a 4 cylinder model
The manuals are different. You probably can figure out which model you have based on the VIN stamped in the steering neck. Ed

In the registration paper I have it says:
KAWASAKI Z 750-E1/L2
and Identification number:
KZ750E037411
What is the difference between Z- model and the KZ model?
Thank you!

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThe bikes that came to North America were marked "KZ"; the ones in UK, Europe, and Japan were marked "Z". There probably are some minor differences in lighting, etc. but they are basically the same. Based on your VIN I suspect yours is the equivalent of an "E" model. Assuming yours is a 4 cylinder bike, based on the frame number info on the back cover page of a Kawasaki Service Manual (see pic) I believe yours is actually a "Z750-L2". Ed
I believe the manual you need is Kawasaki Part Number 99924-1021 (revision 03; 04; or 05). Here are some on eBay:

if your bike is a KZ750 as written above, then you can download the manual there :
www.mediafire.com/download/tgyn0uywyny/K...ki+GPz750+Manual.zip
click on the fat green button, file is about 42mb. I have an 83 GPz750 and the manual suits both bikes as they pretty much have the same engines. Just rebuilt the top end myself, first time ever and went smoothly, bike runs well now.
at the end of the manual they explain the chassis and engines numbers, maybe start there to make sure it's the right manual you're looking at.
