It's always something! was created by Matteson
I blew 2 fuses on the way home. One was on the freeway. The first time it happened I knew it was from something... but what? So after I limped off the freeway I began looking for the culprit. A loose ground on the starter solenoid. The stud was just spinning when tightened. So when I took it apart the old 40 year old plastic was just breaking and I was worried. So I tightened the stud and away I went. Even with 2 lock nuts on that thing age got the best of them and wiggled them loose enough to short out and blow fuses. So this with the clutch cable, throttle cable, chain, coils and leads. Hopefully nothing for a while. I want to spend money on other stuff. But vintage is the best!

Take your old starter solenoid along, and visit the nearest riding lawn mower shop, for about $15.00, you should be able to find one that will work on your bike. You'll probably need to add a ground wire to make it work. John Deere and others should almost be a "drop in" fit.
