That's cool :) Hard to tell from the pic exactly but once that broken stud is out, you're home free IMO. Might need to put a washer or two over the stud for the clamp to seat against. Often the clamps don't need to be tightened to the point where they touch though.

I had a similar situation on my bike only it was #2 cylinder. I fixed it without pulling anything apart. Took a little longer though because it wasn't as easy to get to. Good Luck! Hope it goes easy for you.

Hate to break the bad news to you, but no welder worth their salt will even try to weld that area while the head is on the bike. 75% of a good weld is surface preparation. The whole area around to be welded must be free of oil, paint, and other contaminants. Plus they usually grind away all the weak looking metal around the area they are going to repair too. If you don't,you end up with a weak and a goober looking weld.

When you find a welder, or a machinist extraordinaire, you always remember to bring them a bottle of their favorite liquor no matter the cost at Christmas and their birthday. You would be surprised how much cheaper their prices get when you do that!!!!

I've thought about drilling it out and putting a 8mm stud in. Idk tho how much meat I can go without drilling into a bigger mess. Do they make a longer stud than normal mayne that goes from 8mm to 6mm? So frustrating.

If I do drill and tap a stud in I will need a significantly longer stud. Where would I find one?
