Tachometer pinion/cable reinstall (1976 KZ750 B1) was created by Phaedrus
I recently redone the top-end on my KZ and picked up a new tachometer cable (03-0171 from MotionPro). The cams are in place, the cover's on and the engine is sitting at TDC. I've followed the manual instructions on reinstallation of the pinion and now I'm attempting to attach the new cable. The problem is, the cable end doesn't want to fully thread into the cylinder head (see pic). I've verified the cable on both MotionPro and Z1 for this model KZ so I don't think it's the cable. Any thoughts?
Briefly considered rotating the crank to see if the cam rotation would actually feed the pinion deeper into the cylinder head allowing the cable to thread the rest of the way. I'm concerned that doing this might damage the cam or the pinion if these aren't threaded properly. So I'm tossing this out to the experts.
Thanks.

That's about how far mine screws in. As long as the cable is tight and there is no in and out movement of the cable through the fitting.
