New transmission cover
21 May 2013 20:13 - 21 May 2013 20:19
My left-side transmission cover, with the shifter arm mount, broke. I tried to attach an image, not sure if it worked, so here's this:
thumbs4.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/m37-Lo_k_dHKwFgMCwoRxbg.jpg
We tried welding it back together but the weld didn't take (darn aluminum). Other than ebay, where can I get another? I called my local boneyard and they told me it was a year/model specific part, which kind of sucks.
According to BikeBandit.com, it is part #14026, chain cover.

If it's year specific then it's because of the location of the neutral switch. 550. 650. 750 twin and four, and 900/1000 trans covers will fit.
Kawasaki.com parts diagrams will tell you what (if any) covers are identical, and I think I'll go look.
Kawasaki.com says all the following bikes use the same part number and will work on your bike.
Little bit of choice there, so you ought to be able to find one.

Start here
, click on "Continue" next to motorcycle, then select the year, and displacement (740 for any 750 prior to 82, 750 82 on) then click "continue" then select your model from the list provided. Pretty obvious from there on.
Kawasaki says your VIN is not a valid US model, so it's either a model from across the pond, or you got the VIN wrong.
Post a pic of the bike.
