KZ1000 Clutch Issue / Big problem

Hello,
I need some help on my bike and I hope to find the answer here. I have a 1996 KZ1000p with 56,000 miles on it. After building it I found the clutches slipped at a higher RPM but grabbed well at low. So I purchased an EBC Kevlar clutch rebuild kit. I have a manual and it wasn't a hard job. After replacing the clutches I followed the adjustment as it stated. loosen mid cable adjustment and loosen handle. The engine adjuster stated to turn to counter clockwise till its hard then back 1/4 turn. My adjuster is all the way out and still hard. so i put back together and clutch didn't work.
I came to the conclusion to take the threaded adjuster out of the cover and try that. Bam!! it works, but still slips on hi-way. I don't want to run with out the adjuster in it. What did I screw up or ? Any help would be great!! Also couldn't find the torque spec for the clutch spring bolts so i went with feel on that lol

I would get the torque spec on the clutch spring bolts. Also if you didnt already replace the springs with some heavier ones.

Why did you buy the EBC clutch? Because it was a great ebay deal?

What kind of oil you running ?? New auto oils would make for a slipping clutch vs motorcycle oils for a wet clutch system.. Just a thought to check this before going crazy

Some manuals are reportedly incorrect.

Would also try clockwise until stops, then counter-clockwise 1/4 turn.

May not help, but won't hurt to try.

Good Fortune! :)

" turn to counter clockwise till its hard"....

Hard being the key word.... Found in my KZ900 doing this resulted in a No Go...
Turn until you feel it just barely make contact then follow the rest of the procedure...

Worked as expected for me, may for you as well...
