Oil spill that made BP look good. was created by Cajun
Here is a link to my former post describing the reasoning that lead me to this mishap. Trying to figure out what went wrong.

I removed the starter cover and the sprocket cover in order to test the starter. I MAY have loosened a bolt next to the starter cover, and one of the screws on the front chrome plate on the sprocket cover, and have yet to complete the job and put everything back together. I will be reassembling everything and testing the starter this afternoon...

This morning I went into the garage and there was oil everywhere under the bike. Any idea as to what would cause this massive oil leak? Everything was fine until I messed with the sprocket cover.

You must have parked on the side stand? You should clean it off to look for the leak. Then with it back on the side stand, look for the trail of oil. Sounds like you didn't get the cover sealed up correctly.

I parked it on the side stand and the cover was not put back on. Didnt know the oil would pour out like that.
