Hey everyone. I just bought an incredibly clean 79 KZ1000P the other day and couldn't be happier with it. Though when I looked up the engine number it came out as a 79 MKII engine. What are the implications? Am I going to have a harder time finding compatible parts or anything? Thanks in advance.

Well not really have a harder time finding parts. Some of the parts are beefier than the standard kz engines. The mk11's have the better crank, trans and cases.

All right. Thanks. The strangest part though is that it's a Canadian MKII engine. I'll have to look up the frame number and see what history I can gather.

That is the type of Motor that came in the bike new from the factory. And I believe the Canadian Model did not have a Smog Cap style Valve Cover.

I believe that kraz1 is correct the canada models do not have smog heads. Which is good.

When you look-up a '79 A3A you see the 2 different covers.

When I check the engine number ( KZTOO AE078054 ) it comes up as the Canadian made MKII engine from a 79 A3. Mine is the police model. So I was thinking it had an engine swap at some point. Correct me if I'm wrong. Here's where I was getting my info.

This just indicates it was a "Canadian Market" engine, does not mean there is an engine swap. What did the VIN number from the Frame come back as, or to?

What airbox is in the bike? Is it top & bottom feed? Or bottom feed only?
