Ran into this exact (100%) same situation working on a friends police special....
Not sure yours is configured the same... :blush:
Clutch perch had a micro switch!!!!
Look at your left handle bar clutch perch, see a 2 conductor sleeved cable assembly going to the bottom side of the clutch lever assembly/housing...?
Works the same principle as the side kick stand switch....
Anyhoot, just a thought, worth confirming...

So you still have a pickup coil that is reading 5 ohms out? If so you may be losing 2 cylinders. One pickup coil runs 1 ignition coil, which fires 2 plugs.joe** wrote: You ask the hard questions.
