bogs when clutch let out was created by joe**
I've been cleaning electrical connections. If it starts, it revs fine, I put it in gear and no amount of reving will keep it from dying as I let out the clutch.

Sounds like a defective side stand switch.
There is a wiring diagram in "File Base"

Does it roll freely in gear with the clutch in? If not you may have a stuck clutch.

sorry I thought side stand switch from the posted symptom.
Can you link a video of how it runs then what it does when you try to take off?

sorry no video capabilities. I replaced the timing advancer according to the manual, perhaps it was on wrong when it was working. What are the symptoms of the wrong orientation of the timing advancer?

You got a different/ new part? Or you just removed then re-installed?

If you put it on wrong it won't run, just backfire. As long as the index pin is there, it should be on right if it runs. You could verify timing with a light though, couldn't hurt for sure.
How did it run before?

You ask the hard questions. It was a cold blooded beast. Other than a chirp when I let off the starter button it ran fine - one hundred on all four on a compression test. Then It died when warm. Pickup coil was five ohms out of spec on the front pickup when hot. Now it won't start consistently and it boggs...
