When i hook a test light, ground to negative and touch either coil terminal post, I have HOT on both sidesa. My 2-3 cylinders do not fire up, but 1-4 do???

A coil is a continuous length of wire. If you put voltage in you will get (some) voltage out.
YOU need more than a test light to trouble shoot, and we need some more info about your bike to be more helpful.
