Hey gang, got the GPz really running great after the valve adjustment. It starts right up and comes off the choke quickly. I probably have a few jetting issues to sort out but overall I am very happy with it. However... The other day I got on it on the onramp and took it up to redline. My buddy who was behind me said it smoked at WOT. I know this means oil but it does not smoke otherwise. Is there a condition that would cause smoke at WOT but not when I am tractoring around? The engine has 22K on it and has seen some abuse.

Valve Guide seals comes to mind. Normally if its piston rings it will smoke all the time.. Hows the crankcase vented ?

Do a compression test cold/dry and hot and see the difference. If it smokes when you stand on the throttle, that's usually rings. Guides smoke a little at start up then clear up.

Ok Thanks guys. I was afraid it was rings. It runs awesome right now so I'll baby it for a few more thousand miles before I tear into it.
