crank case? was created by kenfowler123
Hello everyone, first thing I want to say is thank you for all the great advise and suggestions I have been getting. I don't like going to a mechanic and prefer to do things myself. As for my recent dilemma, I replaced my stock air filter system with pod filters. I was wondering if I can seal off the crank case hole or do I need to get a filter? Dont want to create a problem by sealing it and if I do need a filter any suggestion on where and what type and size to get would be greatly appreciated. By the way, it is a 1982 KZ 1100 A shaft.
Thanks

;) I like your bike!
Here is how I set mine up, before changing back to the air box recently.
The crankcase (breather) filter is a K&N unit 2" diameter, I believe. Had to open the hole up in the stock breather cover for the filter tube to friction-fit inside. The filter allowed the crankcase to breathe without blowing oil out of the filter element, even at 9000rpms.

650ed,
Keeping the air box is a great idea.

The difference in performance is noticeable, quite enhanced with the pods/jetting.
It definitely breathes through more fuel/air with individual filters. The throttle response IS instantaneous and quick to red line, when set up that way.

:woohoo: But, I may go back for the thrill of it.
