I just happened across this bike on CL a little while ago. For sale in Florida for $3500 obo.

It would be interesting to know what was done to get this configuration.

Doesn't look like it would do well in the rain or on a mud road...

Wondering about adequate front tire clearance when hitting a bump at speed where the front suspension compresses.

seen this done on a couple of old Triumphs and seen quite a few aircooled RD250/350/400. as far as I could figure they just did it cos they could, something different I guess or maybe good for the drag strip, who knows.

somebody does't have their head on right! :woohoo:
backwards I think and that wheel is going to spray dirt, road grime and possibly water right into those air filters.

ya I mean... the concept is cool but it has to be outright terrible for a day to day bike. I tried to wrap my head around the cam phasing of it all and Now i have a headache haha. Ive never seen this done and I just wanted to see what you guys thought of all this. the exhaust looks cool but hangin a rack out front like that... i dunno

That exhaust system would keep you nice and toasty in the Winter, but I would hate to sit over it in at a traffic light in August. And as suggested above, rain and road slop would be slung into the pods by the front wheel. Maybe this was a drag strip only setup? Ed

Top fuel bikes run the intake in the front as it makes tuning and maintenance easier. Some turn the head around, some the head and block. When the block is turned around on the old school stuff the cam chain tensioner is in front.

They all run billet blocks toady so they can put the cam chain tensioner anywhere they want to.

Back in the 80s/90s when we were involved with Elmer Trett, we got McCormick Engineering to make cylinder heads for Trett out of solid billet. Those heads were machined to fit the motor backwards.

If you are ever at a ManCup race, you can ask Steve McBride or Chris Hand about the cam timing.
