kz650 starting issues

Just as I think everything is just about good to go, something else comes up. Whenever I hit the starter button, the engine cranks over a few times then makes an awful grinding sound and the engine no longer cranks. I am unsure if its the starter clutch or the starter clutch gears. If anyone has some input before I go ahead and buy the rebuild kit that would be awesome! I just do not want to buy something I do not need.

Yep it's your starter clutch. Along with the starter clutch rebuild kit you will need the clutch cover gasket, pan gasket and exhaust pipe header gaskets.
