Hunting For KZ750-B1 Cylinder Head Bolts was created by mind2find
We're putting the cylinder head back on after replacing the gasket and one of the bolts snaps. They are the ones that go up from the bottom into the cylinder head.

We can't find them anywhere except for a couple sketchy hand-written eBay bags. Does anyone know where we can buy some of these? Don't want to try any others because this one snapped even with a torque wrench. :pinch:

Part #: 92003-159 / BOLT, HEX HEAD, 6X34

We've been told not to use ones from the hardware store because they're not designed for engine applications and high heat.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!!!

wireman, fortunately i am not! :)

these are the small bolts that face up (in other words, upside down) and pull the cylinder head down onto the cylinder. They are in the front (just 1 if memory serves) and 2 on the back of the cylinder, under the carbs.

it's been a while since i've worked on this bike, so i don't remember where to find the fiche.

Try boltdepot.com,them got those bolts in grade 10.8(metric version of grade 8 I think,or close to it)
for $.18 each :)
Don't forget those little bolts are tightened in inch lbs,not foot lbs.
Normally Id just put a little blue lock tite on them and snug them up with a 1/4 drive so you don't over tighten them :)

wireman, thanks for the lead. i didn't know about them. hopefully they're quality is better than any cheap stuff found in a hardware shop.

snugging up sounds fine on a regular fastener bolt, but since we took the top end off to prevent any more oil from leaking out around the main gasket, i'm gonna want to tighten it down to spec.

They are 10 mm bolts that torque to about 110 inch-pounds max.

If you want to play it safe you could just get Genuine Kawasaki parts. If you're lookiing for the bolts marked #3 in the diagram below this vintage parts house has them. Ed

Understood, but at least they will work as well as the originals. The problem with hardware store bolts is that you don't know which province in China they came from or the blend of pot metal they contain.
