I have a kawasaki 1979 kz750 kickstart. it started when i bought it, everything was working fine, when i got it home and tried to start it, it wouldn't start. i bought starter fluid, used it, but the battery was dead during that time, still wasn't starting. what do i need to do?

I would start by buying a new battery. Charge the new one with a LOW amperage (2 amp or lower) charger. Do NOT try to start the bike by jumping it from a running vehicle as that can damage the electrical system. Also, buy a Kawasaki Service Manual. They are available on eBay. Be sure to get one for your bike's exact year / model. In it you will find instructions on troubleshooting the bike's charging system which may help. Ed

When you say it started when you bought it, you mean the electric or kick start?
Ed's right, start with the battery. You can take it to an auto parts store and have it tested before you decide whether to buy a new one.
What's it doing when you try to start it?

Make sure the master switch on the right handlebar is in the "Run" position.
Do not hold the clutch in when attempting to kick start.
Do not touch the throttle, just make sure the choke is on (left side of carbs)
If that don't solve your problem there's a checklist we'll follow to diagnose it.

Start with the battery. Take it to an auto parts store and have them test it.
