Cam Bearing Replacement
17 Mar 2013 13:17
I have a damaged cam bearing. It's been taken off a donor engine along with the came which I am installing in another engine (I had a worn lobe on my exhaust cam of my keeper engine. I want to keep the donor bearings don't I? When I removed the cap I found an upper bearing laying face up in the cam cradle area (for want of a better word). It is somewhat visibly scuffed I THINK I'm feeling a bit of a deformity in the bearing and wondering how far I need to go on the bearing replacements. The remainder of the bearings are intact. The engine in question is an 83 kz1100.

They are still an "Active" Kawasaki part, so Z1E or others can get them for you. They are bout $9 each. Ed

My question is(I have a tendency to muddle the issue with too many words....see). My question is need I replace only the questionable bearing or should I replace all the bearings on the shaft?

I personally would replace all of them then re check your valve lash. I would run the bike 25 miles or so first to let the new bearings seat in.
Am addicted to Z1's and kz 900's have an el camino, fly rc helicoptors and am strung out on horsepower.
