KZ550 front end/engine swap was created by DHshredder
I've been toying with the idea of doing a swap to a modern sport bike front end on my '82 KZ 550 LTD, i was wondering if anyone has done a swap on this bike before and if so, what is the best front end to go with? In addition, I'm wondering if anyone knows if any engines will swap into the 550 frame with relative ease, so to speak. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your bike has the same steering head hardware as a bunch of other models, so I'd guess whatever others have used on the 650 or 750 models etc might work on yours. As for an engine, other than the KZ550, a ZR550 Zephyr probably fits.

You could also probably get the ZX550A motor to fit with litte hassle. But for parts availability and longevity, your standard KZ550 engine is probably best.
