Hi! I'm wondering if it can be done;
I would like a kickstarter on my '83 z1000-j3, and i got a spare engine from a mk2 '79 lying around.
So my question is, can i use the mk2 (1015cc motor) crankcase with j3 (998cc motor) crankshaft, (clutch maybe), cylinder & top ?

Not a simple bolt on conversion.
Some machining required.

You can run a j model head on a kz bottom end and jugs. but i believe the bolt patterns are diffrent on the engine mounts. If you run a 81 j model head you can use oem tach cable. the 82 and 83 dont have the gear on the cam and the hole in the head.
