Also, you don't just tap out the old guides and tap in new ones, after changing them you need the seats recut and depending on installed valve stem height maybe the valves tipped - all in all a job best left to those who have the proper tools and skills.

Do they just tap pound out or do I have to have them pressed out . I have have done plenty of valve shimming in the past with my old Honda CRF450 but I haven't done a head work since my XR200 days back oh 1990 ish lol. thanks for the help. Oh also I was thinking if I have the head off I was think just to get a set of stock piston rings and have the cylinder ball honed .
You can drive them out or press them out. Same goes for installation. However, beware...you will have to cut the seats afterward. Big difference between shimming lash and performing major surgery on a cylinder head.

Granitestatekz wrote: Ok, yeah she just smokes burns oil because the seals are bad. My buddy gave me the idea to do the guides too since I was there. He used to be a powersports tech. But I can borrow the air too that will keep the valves seal so I can do the seals without removing the head. Thanks
I'd be curious to how that goes for you without removing the head.

My bike has seen mostly redline and past from racing etc.
GOOD TO GO and absolutely Viton seals the only ones to use.
