The engine ran fine last summer, but should I have the cylinders honed? Is the engine fine as is?
Anyways, here are some pictures:
EDIT:
Sorry, I am at work and the pictures do not seem to want to upload... I will have to attach the pictures when I get home.

murr50 wrote: So last year, i found a 77 kz650 engine for a good price. I figured I would use it for spare parts. I finally got around to taking it apart last weekend, but the cylinders brought up some questions. They have some rust on them, and really look like crap. I tried to scrape by findernail along them, and there is no noticable bumps or imperfections in the cylinder wall. What I am wondering is whether this wear is normal for an engine that has sit for a VERY long time.

Here's a guide on how to do it: www.kzrider.com/forum/8-about-the-site/1...ost-pics-resize-pics
As far as the IE filters, don't know what to tell you about that. You must have kids then, LOL. May want to ease the restrictions a bit.

I really really tried to refrain from such comments...and in a twisted way, it gives me comfort to know I am not alone

Thanks Baldy.
I am gonna drop by a mechanic in town and see if he can do a quick hone job. If not, I'll be making a purchase
