Cam timing marks dont match was created by shadow44
I got the pdf factory z1 manual, and a Chlimer hard copy. the timing marks dont match what I have. I have a T,1,F,4 not the 1,l,l,4 like they show in the book. I assume I should use the #1? Picture attached.

The tick mark at the T is TDC for cylinders 1 and 4. Make sure you have the correct marks on the cam gears also. They can be tricky. This may help.

In the pic posted by shadow44, the F mark is the hash on top of the letter "F" which should align with the case mark at idle rpm.

I can never understand why it is not recommended that we don't change all original Zeds with the short 5 degree advance mechanism, to the later 20 degree advance. The engine must run better! Noting that the "T" illustrated above (by Patton) are in exactly the same position for TDC of both the early and later engines.
I does drive you mad fitting a Dyna S to the older style, knowing that it has an inferior ignition advance curve.
RegardZ.
