I was just talking about getting one of those high pressure parts washers that the parts sit inside and spin while the hot water blasts them,its supposed to be better than a hot tank.
Ive got a lot of old engine blocks/heads/intakes and that kind of stuff to clean up for swap meet material this summer.

Nope, Incorrect. The KZ does Not use a Starter that has a Bendix type drive gear and a solenoid which pushes out an engagement gear. Don't get confused with this info Angel.
The KZ uses a One Way Sprag type Starter Clutch. Here is a link to a Video one how to examine and replace worn parts once it is apart.
Sorry to hear that the mechanic has treated you so un-fairly. Be Very Careful taking it back to him, get All Of your Old Parts Back. Don't pay for any extra labor, maybe just the parts the he didn't replace before. Which would be the Gear and the Roller Hub.

should take it to a technician instead next time.
