a person could use the center stand high gear and calculate the rpm by the gear ratio for 500 miles but I don't think it would be helpful if you want to do it correctly you will have to ride it- get it kz rider

Lots of differing opinions, but the correct way, while not actually described in the Owners Manual, is demonstrated below.

This topic - engine break in process - is almost as polarizing as the stock air box vrs pods issue.

Do not know that I believe all here but I did find this an interesting read. www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm According to him, it is dependent upon what sort of honing is done - than more modern engines have a very fine hatch pattern that the older engines did not.

Anyway wanted to pass this on for others to read and make of it what they wish.

Ok thanks to all for the feed back but now I'm confused as hell! I guess I'll worry about it when the time comes.

i run brad penn zinc oil and run the hell outta mine then change oil. thats just me, i was taught that runnin them easy creates un even wear. but the post on break in makes more sense with same results. but every cylinder ive honed has tight crosshatching anyway as thats just what i learned early on. its just for ring seating so finer more consistant hatch makes more sense on a precision part.

I wouldnt pay to much attention to donthaveakawman. But while breaking it in i would normally break it in how it will be drove. If it was me i would start it for the first time and let it run for a couple min then baby it for the first 20 miles. Then slowly start workin on it.
